I know this wasn't the best, and I didn't finish anything creative to go with it...Cordell OK!

My laptop crashed, and my tablet is limeted...I couldn't even link up.  I'm sorry.
Cordell OK (actually, New Cordell, because it was in a different location at first, but no-one ever calls it that. Just plain ol' Cordell) is one of those little cities.... One of those little cities who, when the hospital closed, decided to raise a small tax in the city, and get it re-opened. I'm the newest cook here, and they have made me right at home! Cordell is the kind of city, that when 150 homes were destroyed by a tornado, was thankful that there were no deaths, and only minor injuries. http://m.newsok.com/tornado-slams-into-cordell-minor-injuries-reported-150-homes-destroyed/article/2758146 I was in truck driving school in Ft Cobb OK about an hr south, and east of Cordell, when the storm came. I remember standing in the doorway of the student housing, watching the TV reports, and watching the storm in the distance, and praying for the people of Cordell. I didn't live here then, but I loved the town, and loved visiting the church where I am now a member. Speaking of that church...... The Judah House of Praise, is the reason my husband and I chose here to settle. If you ever need a great hug, go see Pastor Elizabeth Newman. Judah operates Thee Thrift Store, which in turn helps buy food for the Judah Food Bank, which feeds many of the people in Washita County, who are the working poor. This link could tell you more than I can.. http://www.judahhouse.org/about.php Cordell is the kind of city where the ministerial alliance celebrates the differences in each of the members, instead of being competitive with one another. They work together to serve the community, and do it in love and unity. (Hey! I'm a poet, and didn't know it!) The county courthouse here in Cordell is on the National Register of Historic places. It is worth a trip just to oooh and any over its loveliness! It is under renovation right now. I can hardly wait to see it restored! http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM9R9Z_Washita_County_Courthouse_Cordell_OK

Miriam in Flight

This is the dragonfly I was working on for the ABS MAY challenge....I know. I didn't get done....
Life gets in the way sometimes......
But anyways, since she is late, I used her simply on a memory wire bracelet with re-purposed glass beads.
Her wings are ice resin and tiny iridescent black seed beads. Her tail is bicones, her head and thorax are Chech.....I think. ( I bought someones stash, and they aren't all labeled ).
I think she managed to be quite elegant.

Stunned in the Heartland.

I am so thankful that those I love, who were in the path of the tornadoes yesterday are OK.

I am also hear broken that Oklahoma lost five more lives.
Prayers going out on behalf of the families who lost members.
And to those who had homes and businesses lost and damaged.

Reflection for Sunday.

Yesterday we celebrated the 90th birthday of a true hero.
Mae Ingram, for all of my memory, has been an example of true love, compassion, service, and fun.

A minister in her own right, she served as mother, pastors wife, Sunday school teacher, Womens
Ministry leader, and general best aunt in the world!

She and my Uncle Ray, were the first pastors I had, and they set a high standard!
I remember in that little Pentecostal Holiness Church, in Hinton OK, how at prayer time, I would get as close to her as I could, because I loved to hear her pray!
Oh how that woman can pray!

Her daughter was not only my cousin, but one of my first friends.
Even after they moved away, she would come visit and MAKE me get out of my room, and get out and about, and see people.
(I had a tendency to be a loner back then too.)

My cousin and HER daughters did a very good job of putting the party together, and actually surprised Aunt Mae!
It was great to see her look around and greet everyone who came to celebrate her!

It was a blessing to see, and a wonderful day!
Her family did rise up and honor her!

#2 Daughter, and My Horrible Genes!

Well shoot!
Those of you who know me, know I have a few dietary issues.
On top of having to be gluten free, msg free, and having a tendency toward gout, which means very little red meat for me, I've recently figured out that nightshades cause my arthritis flare ups.
Quite frankly, I have been feeling sorry for myself. Like that does any good.
I mean, I can't eat my favorite Mexican foods any more!

I have it good!

Got a call from my daughter a few days ago.
She had just left the neurologist, and guess what?
She is not only gluten, and msg sensitive, she has a whole list of foods to avoid!

No caffeine!
Chocolate!
Aged cheese!

I hate this for her!

Waiting to find

out what the death toll is here in Oklahoma after todays tornados.

So many lost everything too.

All I can do right now is grieve and pray.

Shaming myself into making this room work!

Too much furniture, too much clutter, too little organizing....
Things are going to change!
I'll update as changes occur.

Twisted, but not discarded.

Unplanned,

This bracelet started out to be a cuff, but in my inexperience it just didn't work.
It kept going all wonky, and just didn't work.

I decided to twist it toward the wonk....(if that makes sense)
Then took a heavy gauge and wrapped it clockwise, then again counter clockwise, adding the big green candy looking bead.
A rustic hook and eye from the ends of the wrapping wire finish it off.

Another view.

Every time I wear it I'm reminded of how life sometimes just doesn't always work out how we planned.
But God comes along, and in His grace, He lovingly wraps Himself around us, holds us together, and makes beauty from our ashes.

Welding /Soldering Lesson!

One of my prayer partners husband is a welder, and knowing I wanted to learn about working with metals, he gave me a welding lesson!
He showed me enough to know I can do it.
He also offered  to gather information about smaller tanks and torches for me.
They told me I could come play with the fire at their house so he can show me more as I progress!
I am so excited!
One particular design has been niggling my heart, and I just need the skills to make it.

If anyone needs some welding done in the western Oklahoma area, call Dobbs welding!
